white house

This is my first attempt at modelling in 3DS Max.  We were told to model the White House.  Although I didn’t get to the best of starts due to the fact that it took me a while to find my way around the software, I managed to complete the task, and I am very happy with the outcome.

HOW IT WAS CREATED
I started off with the cylinders and in order to copy/duplicate them, I CTRL drag, and made a copy of 7.  Using the XYZ at the bottom I placed each one at a distance of 100 between them.  The roof above the cylinders/column was created by changing a cylinder’s side to 3 in the parameters section.  The building itself was created by using various sizes of box and other objects.  The bit above the building where the edges is cut off was created by converting it to poly and using chamfer to pull it in.  The balcony at the back was created with a cylinder with 18 sides which was then converted to poly.  Half of that cylinder was then selected and deleted.  The window was created with a box which had width and length segs set to 2, and height set to 1.  This was then turned to editable poly.  Then each 4 face of the box was selected in order to inset them.  Then it was extruded in order to make it look like a window.  CTRL drag was used to make multiple copies of the windows.
